Fundraising Tips • Incentive Program • Handbook
By standing up and fundraising for D.I.F.D. at The Royal, Power to the Purple teaches the importance of talking about mental health. By hosting a Power to the Purple event at your workplace you will:
- Inspire colleagues to talk about mental health without fear of judgment
- Assist in breaking down the stigma that has prevented individuals from seeking help in the past
- Transform youth mental health by raising vital funds for research, care and suicide prevention
- Have fun!
How to get involved?
1. Inspire Conversation
The Power to the Purple Corporate Challenge will take place throughout February 2012. During this month D.I.F.D. encourages businesses to take part and have their employees wear purple to show their support for youth mental health. In an effort to breakdown stigma we are encouraging individuals to start conversations about mental health with colleagues, family and friends. To register to wear purple and pledge to start conversations throughout February please click here.
2. Raise Awareness
In an attempt to raise awareness about youth mental health, The Royal encourages employees to host an anti-stigma event in their workplace. From mental health discussions during a staff meeting to having a mental health speaker attend a staff retreat, D.I.F.D. encourages colleagues to speak to one another about the importance of discussing mental health.
3. Transform Youth Mental Health
In order to continue to raise awareness and conduct research on youth mental health, businesses are asked to help raise funds for D.I.F.D. and The Royal by hosting a fundraising event at their workplace. From holding a bake sale in your lunchroom cafeteria to having a wear purple/jean day on Fridays, to selling $2.00 paper hearts to your customers, D.I.F.D. encourages employees to be creative and embrace the purple spirit.
Another great way to help raise funds for D.I.F.D. is to purchase your official D.I.F.D. merchandise. Please click here to download the order form and be sure to hand in your orders to your workplace captain (representative) by January 17th, 2012 to ensure that you have your official D.I.F.D. merchandise at the beginning of February. Merchandise is also available for purchase online at www.doitfordaron.com/merchandise/ or at CD Warehouse in Kanata (499 Terry Fox) or Nepean (1383 Clyde Avenue).
Online fundraising is the easiest (and most fun!) means by which to raise funds for D.I.F.D. By signing up as member of your workplace team, you can create your own fundraising page. Similar to Facebook, participants will be able to create their own profile and page by which they can manage their fundraising activities. Through this site you will be able to send emails to all your friends and family to ask them to support you in your quest to break down the barriers that have surrounded youth mental health for far, too long. Any employee that signs up online under their workplace team to raise funds for D.I.F.D. will automatically go into a draw to win some great prizes.
